The FCC Subsidy Program allows parents to utilize an FCC home and pay the same weekly fee they would be charged for child care in the CDC or School-Age Program. To qualify, the child must be on the current waiting list with no openings available in the CDC, unless the child is special needs or the parent works swing or midnight shifts, and the child must be in care for a minimum of 35 hours per week. Currently, Air Force is buying down the cost for those parents who have children up to age 12, special needs children, and those who work swings or midnight shifts. The amount offset by Air Force is based on the type of care provided, the age of the child, and the provider's license status. The FCC or Resource and Referral Coordinators calculate parent fees by using the guidelines set forth on the DD 2652, Application for Department of Defense Child Care Fees, on Total Family Income (TFI). The TFI is based on gross monthly income of the household in which the child spends most of the time.
