Returning Home Care

Active Duty, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve members returning from deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), many receive a limited amount of free childcare upon their return to their home station and their family. The care will be provided in one of the Extended Duty family Child Care homes on base that is currently under contracts as part of an Air Force Services initiative to support members required to work extended hours.

The care will be provided on a space available basis and is limited to no more than 16 hours of care per child and to children ages 12 years and under. If care is not available when requested, the Resource and Referral Office will attempt to make arrangements to have it provided at a later date. Only members returning form deployments 30 days or more in length are eligible to use this service. The care must be used within 30 days of the return from deployment unless the program is not able to offer it during that time. The Resource and Referral Office will verify members' eligibility to use the fee care with the Military Personnel Flight prior to reserving care for the family.

Effective 1 January 2005, we will extend the program to all personnel who routinely deploy on a short-term basis in support of contingency operations. Specifically, any member who deploys a minimum of 30 calendar days (cumulative) in a six-month period, in support of contingency operations, will now receive a limited amount of free child care. This free child care will also be provided in Extended Duty Care Homes, and limited to children 12 years and under, for no more than 16 hours child per six-month period.
