REQUIREMENTS FOR BECOMING A PROVIDER:

NOTE:

Applicant/providers with chronic health problems may be approved providing they are physically and mentally capable of providing care.

STEPS TO BECOMING A FAMILY CHILD CARE PROVIDER:

  1. Complete an Air Force 1928 and FCC application including paperwork for background checks

  2. Interview with all family members is conducted

  3. Attendance in the Family Child Care Orientation Training

  4. Obtain a Medical Certificate and proof of immunizations

  5. Complete Community First Aid and CPR

  6. Set up an appointment with FCC office to have home inspections for Fire, Safety, Military Public Health and Family Child Care

  7. Obtain required liability and auto insurances

  8. Await notification from FCC Coordinator of the results of the Family Child Care Panel who reviews and selects the best qualified to become providers, and forwards recommendations to the 72d Mission Support Group Commander.

NOTE:

Off base affiliates, follow the above steps in addition to first being licensed by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.

FAILURE TO BECOME A LICENSED PROVIDER:

The Air Force has required individuals to become licensed if they are providing care for a child in their home. An unlicensed FCC Provider has 60 days to obtain a license after being contacted by the FCC Coordinator. Failure to comply could result in disqualification to a FCC home and/or losing base housing privileges. Becoming a Family Child Care Provider allows people to a wonderful Support Network. It is our goal to ensure families are provided with quality child care. During the license training period, trainees cannot have children in their home.
